Lyrical Analysis of...
Commander and Chief
- Commander and Chief, commanding a lyrical, full blown miracle standing army of our own,
- Giving orders seething, sighing with a heavenly grin and an ominous groan
- Commander and Chief, leaders of the pissed off, hurt and those that sigh and moan
- We’re the tribal leaders taking advantage of societal sin and tone, those blasting Boss homeless and alone
- “Commander, War Cry orders are: Turn them all to stone, pick up all the rotten voices and voice all that’s hidden and unknown”
- “Chief, If they resist?”, “Smoke them to the bone with that light and sound, time to bring them home”
- Commanding the forgotten to an unfathomable win with the ammunition of words and pen, shoot, poem, poem, poem
- We all started out thinking everything was fun, believing everybody was the same
- Until one day we found out we were Indian and white then shooting us with the rotten apples name
- Alone and low until our souls were empty inflicting acts of shame, so stand in fear and awe and point us out to blame
- We’re here to lead the Indians, the whites, the apples, to drop to the top with this hip hop, jaw dropping game
- Teaching how to aim, raising the low and lame to height of wit and fame and a right to a future, their right to claim
- Fell from a tree now I’m wildly controlled, loose and free, got my red and white brothers and sisters standing here next to me
- We’re the forgotten and lonely ones, listening to the silent sound of our busted drums, forever by ourselves in our ghostly hums
- Yell out your pain before coming undone, make the world feel your suffering and make them shun, at their two forked tongue, guised as one
- Started out rez life in second class, broke, suffering and left to the cold, oh how ones soul can erode, Johnny Appleseed raised ripe and ready to explode,
- was dropped to the ground by what he smoked and what he was told, woke from the ground, innocence lost and oh so old from what was bought and what was sold
- Daily into the night, we’re dead inside and wide awake, a feeling we just can’t shake, for heaven sake
- Step up, step up and start to breed, left alone with nothing and full of greed, calming the nerves with a dime of weed
- We walk a line that's hard to beat, pounded ruts that runs so deep, the sounds of our souls that bend and weep
- Shadows of the tattered and the broken cloth, waiting on the clink from an upper toss, changed my mind, “Gonna get my threads, gonna be the boss!”
- We’re rotten to the apple's core from shining sea to sea, with a banner we decree, working our way out of poverty by way of L T D
- I got all the so called bums, wagon burners, thieves, thugs, low life's all marching after me with the streets branded them as a degree
- Now we all stand shoulder to shoulder bruised, battered, broke, gritty and free, graduated from the concrete jungle academy
- Standing on all the corners, watching and waiting, dying for a future called an uncertain destiny, shooting our voices as weaponry
- From the rez, crazy and loud, stand right there, steady and proud, your mouth will drop as we rip the script, so steady and easily
- Commander and Chief, rolled up ready as one, ripped the page till the cage came undone, dogs on stage, let’s have some fun, beat that drum, beat that drum,
- Beat that drum, bark and bite with a hit and stun, beat that drum, knocking 'em down the way it begun
- Coming from a bank robbing bank run, dog chasing a hot cross bun, leaving them ripping and tired, homespun, aiming for a home run
- From, witnessing the awesome outcome, outlasting the the sum all, but one, the one who would call and point a lyrical pop hit and run
