Lyrical Analysis of...
Daddy
- I became a father two months ago
- I didn't know what to do or where to go
- I named her Gelsy,
- Her grandmothers name,
- Only 'cause she caused the least pain
- But anyway,
- Her mother had to go,
- She was a boxing pro,
- She was gone for a while
- So I was stuck with my kid
- I promised to keep her safe
- So I promised to embrace
- But suddenly, it was a disgrace,
- She came home with marks on her face,
- She was only nine
- But her face was still as beautiful as grace,
- She told me what happened
- "Daddy the boys, they hit me hard"
- I said "Don't worry baby,
- They're gonna get scarred"
- I once swore I would never hurt a soul
- Not even the ones I hated most of all
- But when it came to my daughter,
- Fuck, I got so mad that I would slaughter,
- As I was drivin' my baby to school the next day,
- She pointed to a group of boys, just talkin' away
- I got out of the car and walked over to them,
- The one I really wanted to hurt was named Sven
- I punched him in the gut
- He coughed out a little blood
- But I didn't stop there no,
- I felt like a pro,
- No one could stop me from killin' this ho!
- The next thing I knew I heard a siren
- And I was bein' dragged away
- And all of a sudden, I felt like a tyrant
- As they let me out of the jail,
- It's been a couple of years,
- My daughter appears and she's all grown up,
- Turns out the kid I punched killed him,
- I became a thug but,
- I knew I had my daughter,
- 'til she said "Dad mom's left and you became a thug,
- Why should I care about you? You're just a sick duck"
- Then she left and I felt so bad,
- I walked to the gun shop,
- Ordered a pistol and walked out with the pistol I had,
- Just as I got outside,
- I pulled the trigger,
- I died
- All of a sudden I hear Gelsy
- I woke up to find myself in bed
- The birds were ringin'
- And she was outside singin'
- I walked up to her
- Told her I missed her
- I faded away after I kissed her
- But she always knew I was still there
- She could here my screamin',
- But she didn't fuckin' care,
- I was a thug, the father of her life
- I wanted to protect her but too late...
- I was worthless that night.
