Lyrical Analysis of...
not today or tomorrow
- Even though they act like they know it all, they can’t see well,
- Even though they act they know all the details,
- And judge you by a couple things that you did in the past,
- Keep trying, keeping going, the situation’ll pass,
- I’ve been through a lot too, when my friends shunned me,
- Back in college I didn’t find, anything funny I was depressed…
- I couldn’t understand it,
- All I did was show love, and lend a helping hand but,
- I’ve seen people, come and then go,
- A dude posing as a pastor, putting on a show,
- Stealing money from my family and swindled me too,
- Even members of your religion that you thought were your crew,
- Don’t speak with you, and it hurts just to say it,
- And people try to give you advice, and you hate it,
- Because they never listen, they have their own mission,
- Trying to exploit you, for their ministry’s vision,
- But I’m still here... still alive...
- Still I rise... still I find...
- Inspiration, slowly but surely,
- Even though they treated me colder than snow flurries,
- I learned to make beats to alleviate the stress,
- And I don’t have to say I’m the best,
- I don’t have to preach at you... because I’m an innovator,
- But keep an eye out for the guilt manipulators,
- They’ll take a hold, of your soul, and your goals,
- Take your gifts and exchange ‘em for coals,
- So if you’re wondering how, I’m shining,
- I took what they did to me and turned it into diamonds,
- Under pressure, glad that I made it,
- Tightening my circle, eliminating fakeness,
- Seeing through the matrix, Neo type mindset,
- So when they tell you to give it up, tell ‘em “not yet”...
- Tell 'em not yet,
- When they tell you give it up tell em not yet,
- Tell 'em not yet,
- When they tell you give it up tell em not yet,
- Tell 'em not yet,
- When they tell you to give it up tell em not yet,
- So when it feels like your head is gonna explode,
- And you don’t get text from anybody you know,
- Nobody calling to see how your doing,
- And it seems like everyone else is just pursuing,
- Their own agenda, just remember,
- There’s others out there like you, so when they throw water on your ember,
- Trying put out, the flame in your heart,
- ...Driving you, to illuminate what is dark,
- Bringing positivity, recognize,
- Their negative energy and try to set aside,
- Those relationships that seem to bring you down,
- Take the, time out when nobody’s around,
- To think about how they treated you... and how you were before,
- You met them, and then you can be assured,
- Silence and solitude, can help you see clearer,
- Helping you get to know the person inside the mirror,
- Lacerated past,
- Still recovering backstabbed by my brothers and now I see they were slaves of cash,
- People pleasers, shattered my aspirations,
- Now you lost all that you thought you had, well congratulations,
- I’m not trying to disrespect, but it’s hard for me,
- To not see the irony in impropriety,
- Pseudo philosophy, and semi religious jargon,
- Mixed with peer pressure, can make you believe non sense,
- Left abandoned and cold shouldered,
- Felt like I was stuck in a chokehold gasping, and they glossed over,
- All the pain that they inflicted,
- Loose ends left untied, still thinking that they fixed it,
- Close associates,
- Acting like they’re professional counselors, now I see where their focus is,
- Even though it’s seems hopeless knowing I’m hard presssed,
- While they hope that I give it up, I show ‘em not yet,
- I show 'em not yet,
- When they think I gave it up I show 'em not yet,
- I show 'em not yet,
- When they think I gave it up I show 'em not yet...
