Lyrical Analysis of...
This World
- You know the country is down the drain
- when I feel more human when police cause me pain;
- Least then I'm given attention,
- because my race's hate is a permanent detention
- and when it comes to beat downs there is just no prevention.
- Walking the streets, feeling so alone
- all I got is some weed
- some cash
- and my shitty old cell phone.
- Everyone I know is in some sort of gang,
- either now dead, bleeding out, at least one thing has caused a pang,
- but they gotta stay within them if they wanna survive,
- because whilst we out here rotting the cops and wealthy still thrive.
- Too self centred to spare a nickel,
- whilst out here I watch my best friend's blood trickle,
- down the whole road and sidewalk
- there's so much red I'm panicking, man,
- because if he was conscious he'd say that these bullet wounds don't tickle,
- nothing but a crowd watching over my shoulder
- this murder probably won't even get documented in a folder
- and by the time it is, we'll all be older
- some of us dead and the rest more aggressive and bolder.
- Because this world is fucked now,
- racial hate around every corner,
- it is torture.
- Some of us will say it will go away,
- but that will never ever be true, it's here to stay.
- The black community is seen as some sort of animals
- but despite your rumors, at the end of the day
- we all share this Earth, we're all damn smart mammals.
- Skin colour don't mean a thing,
- and if the whole world had that view
- then this wouldn't be something I need to sing.
- Newspaper on the doorstep today,
- saying a black man was beaten to death, Tuesday.
- This doesn't even make front page,
- but when a white man is murdered
- it's the crime of the age.
- And best part, we have no power,
- sitting here, hoping for the best
- with cheap cable TV and a small, faulty shower.
- We don't get a say in how our country is run,
- only whites get a vote,
- and I'm telling you, that aint fun,
- the whole hate for us justifies us to carry a gun.
- But don't let the officer see it, oh no,
- he'll leave you with a broken nose, some fractured ribs, and it will show.
- Yet we just gotta sit and see it happen,
- like the world is a freak show
- and blacks are the main attraction.
- And thus, my friends, it's time to take action
- because we deserve more than a slum,
- with every other race living a luxury life
- fucking a good wife;
- and we're in oppression, labelled violent and dumb.
- We need a life of freedom,
- not a one where a rebellion needs leading.
- My pride and joy is my four six,
- amongst other issues, which I'm not needing,
- like half my family locked up and the rest are dead
- but onlookers don't care, to them,
- problems in life are for the foolish, they're rare,
- but I tell you, that assumption isn't fair
- my glock isn't for murder, it's because of the police scare.
- You judgmental pricks should come see the scene,
- afterwards, you would forever remember where you been.
- See the death, drugs, and struggles to make a living,
- then instead of scoffing at us, maybe spare some green, start giving
- shove your false thoughts
- about us being barbaric
- up your pretentious, rich boy ass
- because here in the hood, our stories are classic
- our lives worth more than any house you can buy.
- So until you take notice of us, accept our identities
- I'll not sit back and let it go with a simple sigh,
- here's why,
- Because this world is fucked now,
- racial hate around every corner,
- it is torture.
- I was just thinking,
- that you should all know
- that where we live has a much better history than
- "some storage room for cheap hoes"
- your ignorance is incredible, and boy, it shows.
- Peace.
