Lyrical Analysis of...
Psalm 151
- Lord forgive me, this might be blasphemy
- but I gotta couple questions that need some asking
- I'm scared to write this, incite Your might
- cuz I gotta lotta fright when it comes to the light.
- Even Heaven is a fear that I hold
- it's a timeless time where God can look into my soul.
- So I run from it, got me sickened to my stomach.
- Got me thinkin' how I'm supposed to be in love with it.
- It ain't there, it ain't real to me.
- Reality without i is just realty, listen
- I'm scared of God, and God can chime in
- Now's a good time to shine in, when I'm rhymin
- Send Your face, send Your holy light
- pull me from this life, and then hold me tight
- But that ain't how it works though, is it Lord?
- That ain't what you made Your Earthly visit for.
- Not so I could lie down with life in my town
- Gettin high, rollin blunts with a White Owl
- The herb is perfect but the hurt ain't worth it
- I yearn for purpose but it sure ain't workin
- I gotta open up on this pen and scratch pad
- No scratch that, I'll keep it bottled up like a flask cap
- in a flashback, when I take my last gasp
- all the half assed questions I should have asked
- will be flooding me, overflow and cover me
- Where is God? I'll probably die wondering
- So I'm carrying this weight on my shoulders
- heavy as a boulder, waitin til it's over
- Hopin it'll crush me, it's always above me
- If I tell you that I'm fine then I'm lyin, trust me
- Call this song the Psalm, 151
- in the Bible there's just 150 ones
- So I added on, tried to make an average song
- that didn't babble on like the day they built Babylon
- Tried to throw a little flow in my throat
- when I wrote and composed I just hope that I don't choke
