Lyrical Analysis of...
Love is like Water - Cagnazzo (prod. Vid Productions x SixOne)
- Cagnazzo on the Cypher
- I heard an old saying once that love was like water.
- We always imagine it to flow, but more often than not,
- it is raging, full of rapids, specked with waterfalls,
- and when the passion burns bright enough,
- the drought will leave you crawling,
- begging for even a raindrop on your tongue.
- I see now, that love is like water,
- and that you
- you were my ocean.
- I imagined one day you and I would rule the world
- Enigmatic overarching predicted you that would be my girl
- But now the only kingdom I own has drowned in seas of whirls
- and I forgot how to swim and retrieve my mindset on the pearls
- It's a rocky start but, you know, I guess that's how life works
- Let your guard down for a second and you're hit with waves of hurt
- I pulled down the moon for you and the tides have begun to stir
- Now I'm struggling to keep my breath, no scuba tank in this world
- I had never ending dreams of the fireworks of your words
- But after learning love from you I never expected the worst
- The whiskey in my throat dehydrates my mind of the worms
- the parasites that you left that continue to eat my work
- the bacteria of the soul that consumes what's left of my worth
- and now the sickness reminds me of the breath of life that you were
- I lost my faith a while back but memories still cause me worry
- And you restored it only to crush it, making my poetry wordless
- I guess it's no use really to cry these rivers of spilled milk
- But what can you do when your drain gets pulled and you're unfilled
- It's like a windmill, spinning back and forth on the reel
- But what use is the propeller if there's no wind on the wheel
- I'm not sorry that I loved you, just sad you didn't know how I feel
- I won't try to go and hunt you but I want you to know it was real
- I was an torn open envelope who just needed a wax seal
- A phantom thief like you is versed in the hearts that you steal
- A cat burglar, stretching her legs to catch mice standing still
- But the corpse of a rodent is not equivalent to the pills
- I should know better than chewing Xanax to target pain for a kill
- But common sense was lost when you disappeared and I lost my will
- But enough about heartbreak, I've still got a few stories to tell
- How an angel like you took a sinner like me to Heaven from hell
- I was broken down badly, automaton gears lost in the mail
- My sandcastles were worn by water yet you brought me a pail
- And so we built empires and harbors from sandstone and heartbreak
- How you taught me to rise my sails in windstorms and fight fate
- Your eyes were like fountains, seas I came to appreciate
- And when our lips pressed together, torrents streamed at mach 8 flow rates
- You tapped in the reservoirs in my heart, and burst through the gates
- Surfed the swamps of my depression, which you learned to navigate
- I abdicated my anxiety and leapt toward you on ice skates
- Didn't know I was on thin ice till the pond beneath cracked and I sank
- And so my mind became waterlogged, dead goldfish floats in the tank
- So I begged you to stay but I knew I was walking the plank
- But I know I never really had the chance to properly thank
- you for your love making me feel higher than the Mont Blanc
- But it's funny how I see your face in every bottle I drank
- Even though it's clear by now you didn't feel the same way
- If you find a man who loves you like I did and do everyday
- I pray you'll be as happy as you once made me, swimming through the gray
