Lyrical Analysis of...
This and That
- Waking up for school on a Monday morning
- Every single day I hear a new voice swarming
- Around my head, the mental nest, a train keeps on boarding
- And derailing suddenly without any warning
- Who said this and who said that?
- Who make up that and who brought up this?
- Only I can seek inside my mind and reminisce
- I wish they would all stay calm, not blow up and dehisce
- Riding solo on a mini yellow school bus
- I get the window seat all to myself
- Bullies in the back wanna start up a big fuss
- I swear to God they need to stack their feelings on a shelf
- Say I don't want trouble but no one listens
- So I stick to myself cause fake smiles glisten
- And I’m not welcome at all in their existence
- Cause they think I'm a youth leader spreading word of Christians
- Well Christians are balanced, do I always seem that way?
- To reform completely could be quite the price to pay
- Dedication and willpower at its finest
- Creates a pure individual, golden touch like Midas
- I been in my feelings, I don't really need to change
- And I'm not changing others cause I know I'm not perfectly sane
- You're proposing deals to me like I'm a human stock exchange
- Call me four eyes but I'll always hit you at extended range
- Waking up for school on a Monday morning
- Every single day I hear a new voice swarming
- Around my head, the mental nest, a train keeps on boarding
- And derailing suddenly without any warning
- Who said this and who said that?
- Who made up that and who brought up this?
- Only I can seek inside my mind and reminisce
- I wish they would all stay calm not blow up and dehisce
- Getting to school, walking down the hallway
- A piercing blow hits my back, it really hurts
- Pretty pathetic I can't make it out the parking lot
- Without feeling like I'm in a dessert on the outskirts
- Put my hands up, boxing match, exhibition
- Throwing paper balls at me, a hundred rounds of ammunition
- Wishing to cast tricks like a wizardly magician
- Setting fire to haters, I call it lethal ignition
- Finally speaking up, I gave a rebuttal
- That only led to a big mess of anger and caused a scuffle
- Needless to say, I've never been the strongest person
- But I couldn't just stand there and watch tormenting worsen
- So I took a left hook to the temple, I was down
- Nose was red but in my own blood I wouldn't drown
- Footsteps are distant, the principal must be mad
- With so much yelling and screaming he might have mistook this place for Stalingrad
- Figures when I speak up cause I get offended
- That I push everyone around me to extent of near suspension
- Posting my pictures, laughing at me on live stream
- Row a boat or slip and slide, I'm sliding on a downstream
- Dragging myself home to my bedroom where I might have betook
- In this land of fairy tales there ain't no place for storybooks
- But if this is a storybook then often it won't be true
- They cliff hangers leave parents saying "boy wha'd he do?"
- Waking up for school on a Monday morning
- Every single day I hear a new voice swarming
- Around my head, the mental nest, a train keeps on boarding
- And derailing suddenly without any warning
- Who said this and who said that?
- I don't know who made up that or who brought up this
- But only I can seek inside my mind and reminisce
- I wish they would all stay calm, not blow up and dehisce
