Lyrical Analysis of...
Highways
- Look how much everythings changed
- but this time
- I don't want to go back
- Cruisin on the highway
- finally havin it my way
- like burger king
- aint nothin gon hurt the king in my way
- I've been struggling hustlin through the week
- and its finally friday
- so what do I say?
- I'd say its finally
- the time to be alive
- cruise control on 65
- that way no one has the power
- to even catch me if they tried
- I said that I'd stay
- steadily beating the street and easily keepin up the speed till I seen
- the ramp to the highway
- the cars, they come and go, faster and faster and
- all I know is the on
- ly one who won't go
- just happens to be my passenger
- a travel companion to always be having around
- when I hit a speed bump
- and there aint no hazards here for speed bumps, I don't see one
- The dangers here are begone
- dont have a restriction, or need one
- there's even some trees on each season they keep in between a machine with no treason
- when there is an open road
- sieze it before it ceases to show
- when you got hand to hold take it slow
- cause
- The need for speed's gone
- Pit stops are not needed on this journey
- no breaks are being taken, not a reason to worry
- avert your pupils to the person keeping you from the hurting
- slurping on a slurpee and wearing the cutest shirt with a skirt on
- and then when the night falls, she'll be there to put your sweatshirt on
- and feeding you dessert and telling you how she is an expert on
- the things she loves to do you start to think this girl is nocturnal
- cause you two talk all night and all day every day long its eternal
- the fire in our hearts is burning like the fuel in our engine
- on hands and knees for one another, backs unbroken, unbended
- we never left but each of us returned to have the hurt mended
- and come to think of it in that sense, maybe we were both destined
- a very long time ago, on the same road,
- taking different exits, making different stories to be told
- road blocks and reconstruction broke the mold as we got old
- and somehow, someway, we beautifully spun out of control
- crashing into eachother, never wondering how
- the stars aligned and brought our broken hearts back to being found
- took our souls from underground, all the way to the skyways
- rebulding the broken road to lead us on to the highways
- aint no looking back i'm on a different road
- different from the one that I was forced to have to call my own
- taking the curve off of the crooked road to see a different view
- this change of streets had shown me the direction to you
- ending of prequel, "Streets"
