The name is glargine, but you can call me Lantus.
Im a type of long-acting insulin for our people we cal diabetics.
My onset is an hour, but im cooler than the rest
you wanna know why, because im peakless.
this is your girl lantus and i have an important job
i control hyperglycemia in our friends with diabetes, type 1 or 2
I lower their blood sugar by stimulating glucose uptake in the skeletal muscle and fat
this is your girl lantus let me tell you
i provide a slower and prolonged absorption to give to you
im idenical to endogenous insulin too
i metabolize in some important places
like the liver, spleen, kidney and muscles
although my half life is short only 5 to 6 minutes,
my job in the body is important buissness
im injected in the stomach but not always there
back of the arm, thigh but not over hair
im not made for anyone such as people with an allergy or low blood sugar
im pretty good at making friends i dont have a lot of enemies
but when i cause hypoglycemia, pruritus, swelling, or anaphylaxis im not the favorite
beta blockers, clonidine, and reserpine, steriods, estrogens, and alcohol.
ACE inhibitors, MAO inhibitors, and niacin those are all my friends that i dont get a long with.
before you use me, you better see the most important thing to me
B L O O D S U G A R readings and A1C.
My name is glargine, im here for free and remember
diabetes management is the key!
