My Every Prayer
• Written by Anonymous
Sometimes it’s hard to find a reason
To look up and force a smile
When all your senses are telling you
It may not be worthwhile
But I’ll keep my head above water
It’s not my time to drown
There’s gotta be an easy way to
Wipe off distant frowns.
I know that you’ve promised
In your time you’ll set me free
Fill my mind until it’s time
To exit my heart’s poverty
I see your plans before me
I know that you care
So lift me up until it’s time
To answer my every prayer.
Some say the only way is up
When you’re in so very deep
You’ll be thrown a ladder
Something I expect to see.
At some point I will choose to climb
When I’m ready to mend the hurt
Why should I just be satisfied
To stay knee deep in dirt.
I know that you’ve promised
In your time you’ll set me free
Fill my mind until it’s time
To exit my heart’s poverty
I see your plans before me
I know that you care
So lift me up until it’s time
To answer my every prayer.
I look up and I see all those
Who seem to be just fine
It’s hard now to remember
That they too have had their times.
In life sometimes we take a turn
A target of an evil plan
For now we just must wait for God
To show his saving hand.
I know that you’ve promised
In your time you’ll set me free
Fill my mind until it’s time
To exit my heart’s poverty
I see your plans before me
I know that you care
So lift me up until it’s time
To answer my every prayer.
