South-West Life
• Written by BigFin
We live that middle-class, brittle life
That middle centered, simple life
A life away from the city
But not far enough for your pity
Hop in the car, we are in Sydney's South-West
Not far enough West to go full bare-chest
Not far enough West for a full meth-fest
Not far enough West to be a full dole-pest
Well thanks for that, I guess, we're blessed
But we ain't rich neither, we ain't rich snobs
More people my age deal drugs than have jobs
And a night watch for the suburbs, who think they're all cops
Running around, ratting on kids, in they're Facebook mobs
Misinformed, bored housewives just looking for a thrill
Little do they know they're son could probably sell them a couple pills
Everyone knows everyone, I'm surprised secrets don't spill
It's hard to know who's genuine, and who actually wants to chill
To those who run and spread the word, like all news is personal
Like really? If someone smokes weed is that really on you?
My mates know the go, we're a pretty tight knit crew
We know who's a bro, we know those who are real and true
We know who has our backs and those who are ready to screw
But those few who are true, you can always turn too
This is South-West life, it moves at a slower pace
It ain't filled with grace but it's better than the rat race
Seven days a week, someone's getting spaced
Or off their face on a case, or on something that's laced
But don't base the whole truth on my spoken word
Most of this is blurred beneath the surface
The top appears clear, like epidermis
Many will say I'm full of shit, I'd like another diagnosis
Cause my outrageous statements may sound atrocious
I guess the purpose of this rap is be aware,
Shit hides beneath the surface
Cause South-West life ain't lifeless if you've noticed
