[Verse 1]
this is story of my four days inside
and what it took to realize that my life
was mine and my design,
had to re align and not resign
to world that confined the benign
its was a cold night in Brooklyn when i first set out
voices urges i had to let out
without my pills i started to doubt
i was devout but i couldn't force a turnabout
and that's when i first decided to log out
i made a call, they told me to check myself in
had all these feelings within, a yang without a yin
people saying where your head been, even though I'd been saying
had to make myself heard over this din
so i quit
it wasn't conscious, it just that everyone else stayed unresponsive
i kept my cool, cryonics, performing personal detoxes
mental kamikazes, sanity firebombings
external sabotages, and that's just the synopses
relapse, collapse, brain maps
pills straight from the lab, perhaps
these rats can fix my handicap
but as times elapse i still felt trapped
new batch to patch, back to making maps
[Verse 2]
ain't uniquely present, but distinctly obsolescent
a coalescent convergence of depressants
keep us effervescent, feeling pleasant
lessen the incessant, acquiescent to their evanescence
avoid the tentacles like pedestals
I fit the role but get annoyed with comparisons
off by decimals, a fellow vegetable
they say its biochemicals but I'm skeptical
Travel. Fly. Swim. Meet. Love. Dance. Win.
Smile. Laugh. Hold. Walk. Live. Live. Live. Live.
[Verse 3]
It's kind of a funny story, how a shortie
could be so thorny, make me want to drink a forty
I can't eat, I can't sleep
false recovery, I can't be
Barney Bobby Johnny, they're here to help me
Noelle's here to drive me crazy
the fiends supply the shady
and Solomon supplies the hazy
Humble and the Prof double the entourage
and the docs are at odds with any self sabotage
I'm just a soldier following orders
wanted it to be over, didn't need to be older
motivation from medication, starvation from education
every indication says i need observation
amortization till restoration, allocation of reparation
preparation for occupation, no correlation to my situation
an anchor in my answers, a ladder to more stature
life on a platter, life looking dapper
All I ever wanted was to get ahead, no more meds
everyone forgets their head at this depth
gotta take baby steps, accept you're a cadet
Now i can look ahead, not dead yet
