Hear My Prayer

• Written by

She stared out the window on a dark grey day
Watching the grey clouds pass on by
Dressed in black her father took her hand
Squeezing it tight he said,
"Darlin' don't you worry. I am right by your side. Though Mama's gone,
just know that I will never leave your side,"

She took his promise and held in her heart and prayed that it would stay.
Then one late night he came home
More drunk then he should be
Running outside she fell on her knees and looked up at the sky

God can you hear my prayer
Please take me away from here
I'm scared and alone
Please take this misery and pain away
Shield me from the dark
Oh, take my hand
Guide me up there where it is safe.

Months passed by without a change
Her daddy got worse
bottles were scattered throughout the house
and the smell of alcohol was clear
