Suburban Philosophy
• Written by AKERX
There is so much hate in this world,
i look around and see people spitting in each other's eyes
instead of being the man and picking on someone their own size.
People's feelings have been eviscerated by these comments,
and family's have been separated over their contents.
in my perfect world, people can take a beating
and still stand to pursue a better feeling.
But during this postmodern age of affluence,
some seem to think that their kid is a rich prince
who should be placed high up on the pedestal
as someone who is all but ineffable.
she says " he deserves an award for trying "
it gets the fire deep inside me igniting
" dumb bitch that's a participation ribbon "
awards should be given to people who winnin'
to people who have great passion and are driven
to see themselves overcome oppression,
not to some kid who's just wanting attention.
We should be praising the ones who love others,
not the ones who want to be loved by others
if you listen to the cries of those who die for dreaming
instead of the whines coming, from those who fight for feeling,
then you will find it stunning, that the real men and women
who have sacrificed more than just a standard of living
wanted nothing more than to leave no one unforgiven
and once you overcome that illusion of modesty
then you will hear the lies of suburban philosophy
we need to share emotional reflections
instead of spreading cynical expressions
so i will insert my ass where their lips are
but the kind of actions that get me lit are
people who believe that putting a flag filter
over their damn Facebook profile picture
will somehow relieve the overall grief
i know you fucking care, don't lie through your teeth
but you don't have to go shouting in my ears,
about how much you go round shedding those tears
the only thing thats doing is grinding my gears
like smoky the bear preachin 'bout these liars
"only you can prevent these god damn wildfires"
because your actions speak louder than your words
get up and act, you Shakespearean cowards
if you listen to the cries of those who die for dreaming
instead of the whines coming, from those who fight for feeling,
then you will find it stunning, that the real men and women
who have sacrificed more than just a standard of living
wanted nothing more than to leave no one unforgiven
and once you overcome that illusion of modesty
then you will hear the lies of suburban philosophy
you need to know over time this song will only get louder
and denying it's message will only make you that much prouder
it might be easy for you to say you don't see what i see,
but i guess that's just a part of suburban philosophy
