Anonymous's Notes

This is the only rhyming summary of "The Pit and the Pendulum" by Edgar Allen Poe.

I was sentenced to die.
I unclosed my eye
in a place full of darkness
with walls very spotless.
Without any control
I almost fell in a hole.

Then I took a stone
and when it was thrown
it fell extremely deep
into water very steep.

When I rose
after a dose
of dreams
I saw the ceiling painting
almost like meant for queens
There was a pendulum waiting
I wish I hadn't seen.

It was moving downward slowly
while rats were all around
as if I was a trophy.
They helped me dismount
the chain holding me bound.

The walls began to glow
emitting heat according to Poe.
Then they started moving
and the fear left me drooling.

Then I got the clue
the only thing left to do
was to jump into the hole
in the midst of the whole
DUNGEON.

My mind already fading
General Lasalle came saving
like a harsh grating as of a thousand thunders
or drums played by heavenly drummers.
