I'm in love with poetry

Thank god for poetry

If god is love, then I am am love,

If god is love than you are love,

If you are love, then I'm in love,

with poetry,

thank god for poetry,

These words I spit, they keep me free,

release me from the pressure of anxiety,

saves me from fatality,

the world devours me and spits me out,

I spit them out,

There is no doubt,

The language and the rhythm of this spoken word,

invites my soul,

to become whole,

As it fills my veins with liquid faith, rhythmic hymns and linguistic hope,

There is no doubt, that you keep me afloat..

 

If it weren't for you,

I might be dead,

Inside, just like the walking dead

Senses turned off, I might be blind,

Stubborn, stuck useless pride,

Infected with deception from environments

that kill the mind,

Mindless, with no direction, so when I'm lost with misdirection.

I'm reminded every time the spoken word,

ignites, my love for poetry,

Thank god for poetry,

I'm in love with poetry,

And this love is so divine, it makes me cry when I smile,

I once was empty inside, filling voids with lies,

Now I'm realizing these voids are filled with truth,

So I write my truth through poetry...
