Societal Differences
• Written by STONEDSANTA
Consciousness recedes
darkness breeds
Rid myself of greed
to find myself a victim of the creed
dreams of having my mind freed
i find myself behind bars
looking up to the stars
im weighed down by battlescars
how can i determine my worth
when ive been a slave since birth
succumbed to society
im a puppet to propriety
predetermined morals but in my head
thoughts quarrel between right and wrong
who can decide where i belong
If everyone's the same
is it possible to stand out
without appearing insane
like a machine im a fiend to interaction
Technology conceals the need to find passion
Now intelligence is hard to find when
free will is sacrificed to the work grind
i feel my mind race tryna keep up with
the pace of growing up and paying bills
without work no money for buying meals
People satisfied with corporate deals and product steals
Citizens work all year looking forward to black friday
but whos to say when someones feeling gray
depression has become so normal
that it cant be expressed because people never
show interest instead people thrive to be the best to receive
the very thing that differentiates them from the rest
Im on a quest to prove money doesnt buy happiness
But as they always plea
cash rules everything around me
Whats it gonna take for the world to see
That money and a shopping spree
wont save the trees and until its too late
Will society separate and realize that like fish
they take the corporate bait and have failed
to appreciate what they need rather than compete
with whos got better shoes on their feet
because only then will they feel complete
but until then their souls shall stay asleep
as society follows like sheep
