This song is for my aunt Gladys who raised me and should me what it was to be the woman God wants me to be.

Tough love hard to come buy. It's something we take for granted.

Later to realize, that's all we need.

I remember every last word you said to me. And it went a little something like this...

"I ain't always going to be hear. You going to miss me when I am gone.
You going to end up in them streets, it ain't going to be easy. So sit down in
this kitchen chair you you need to learn how to read, cook, and clean because
a real man don't want a woman that can't. Are you listing to me?
Do you understand?"

As I look to the ground with a sadden frown I say, "yes ma I think I understand."
Not really knowing back then what you meant . You would lift my head and say, " Get that frown off your face mmmm.... girl what a shame what a waste. Then I rembere the words u say to me..

I remember I sat up in that chair and said to you,
" Auntie these words are to big I am just a kid, I don't understand how
this book going to help me any, what dose it mean?"
You would stop on the nick of dime and you said to me,
"My time almost up you got to stay tough, sound out them words, sit up straight,
get that frown off your face, mmm.. girl what a shame what a waste.
When I am gone this book will be your guide in this had life.
Are you listening, girl do you understand?" As I look to the ground
with my sadden frown I say, "yes ma i think I understand."
Not really knowing what you meant back then. Then I remember what u say....

Now the tables have turn, I am grown and i really miss you.
Why you have to go? I have read that book of life. Iam trying to follow his plane.
I doing my best I can to understand, mama please help me!

Now my little girl says, " Mama can i go outside and play?"
And i say with a smile on my face, " Oh no... you sit in this chair, I know it's
not fair, but you got to sit learn how to read, cook, and clean because a
real man don't want a woman that can't. I ain't always going to be hear
you going to miss me when I am gone. Are you listing do you understand me?'
As she looks to the grown with that same sadden frown , and says " yes ma
I think I understand."

I know one day she will realize tough love hard to come buy.
It's something we take for granted. Later to realize that's all we need..
BABY GIRL Mama told me..
