Pavement of Bones
• Written by GregStone
"War is the pinnacle of Man's failure as a race. Through war we satisfy no more than a need for blood and gain no more than an even greater need for blood."
Mankind with a need for conflict
Want a punchline you'll taste the rockets
Guns and bullets hit you like a comet
Knocking your eyes right out their socket
Through a lack of organization
Peace among worlds set off a vibration
People lay dead, so they rally the nation
Send the best in with all guns blazing
War is a series of stepping stones
Like stepping through bones and broken homes
Following the path where the bullet goes
Then writing it down in unspoken tomes
Plant me a seed where the dead men lie
Tell me a story bout dead men pride
Never in life has the dead run dry
Because as sure as day, the dead men die
Tell me, what was lost at the cost of war?
Souls of men forgotten like a tossed out whore
Cold cold winter see the frost on the door
That's just a line to be crossed once more
And no amount of peace can lift the curse
Did you know the word war comes from "worse"
Cause nothing can be worse than war itself
That's why death is how man defines it's wealth
Through the lives of innocents
A nation loses it's innocence
Sacrifice just to cleanse its sins
And no man has ended it since
From the void of what we lose
To carry the fight is what we choose
His death, hers, no asking whose
The nation's loose, tighten the screws
Now I know I wrote mind of a killer
But my mind since is ill-er, better deliver
Society's a temple and war is the pillar
Never has a blade been warmer than the winter
Right now my country's in peace and I'm loving it
Those who aren't say FUCK YOU to the government
I'm starting a new religion and peace is in the covenant
And if you dare to start a war then you'll be facing punishment
Holy shit that was a mouthful to say
I think I've kinda had enough for today
But this violence has me in a rough kind of way
Put away the bombs and put the guns on display
