Drug Addiction

I was taught to overcome overcome yeah
I was taught to overcome overcome yeah
No matter what overcome
When i was younger my pops struggled to put food on the table
an unstable mind of my father having veins full of hatred
showing us love but it had to hurt every night when he went to sleep
thinking he wasn't enough
i witnessed addiction sickness i watched him overcome
i sit and recollect the way it was when i was younger
Chocolate milk, more than a drink to my father
it was the motivation its the thing that pushed him farther
See he was going through some things at the time
he couldn't spare the two and a dime
for that simple kind of drink that we desired
It broke his heart that he couldn't afford it
So he started making better choices
Voud he wouldn't let it destroy him
So thanks Dad I love you and you don't go unnoticed
Now i sit and see the way it is now that im older
table holding warm dishes drugs absent from the picture
long road but I knew that we wouldn't fold, now its over.
When i was younger my pops struggled to put food on the table
an unstable mind of my father having veins full of hatred
showing us love but it had to hurt every night when he went to sleep
thinking he wasn't enough
but I watched him overcome overcome yeah
I watched him overcome overcome yeah
I was taught to overcome overcome yeah
I was taught to overcome overcome yeah
So thanks Dad I love you
