Passing by streets I don't recognize,
It'd be a pleasure if I'm still alive by sunrise,
I remember back in school, so happy, now just gunfights,
Back when we ran the streets, always gettin' socked in our jawlines,
Never thought I'd be signed, and have a whole franchise,
Dropped a few singles, my rap career's starting to capsize,
Waiting to see myself on MTV, best thing I got were standbys,
Thought I had something special like sapphires,
I suppose it didn't mean too much, turnin' counter clockwise,
Rap, hip-hop and R&B were my favorite pastimes,
Now, I'm broke, hitting nothing but stoplights,
On the news, all you see are crazy niggas chased by spotlights,
I was one of them,
I told stories to my father way back when,
Just labled as a broke-ass nigga then,
Thought I could make a difference with paper and a pen,
Guess I was wrong,
Just get nobody listening when I drop a new song,
You just wait, it won't be long before I'm gone,
Now, the only income I get is from mowing lawns,
Everybody said I'd be someone,
Fuck.. were they wrong?
Ain't nobody want me to join in their song,
My talents have faded for far too long,
I was never one to follow along,
Nobody ever wanted in on my gold,
I was a selfish leprechaun,
Maybe I could take the blood splatter of these pictures I've drawn,
I know I can't, but I gotta try to stay strong,
May this be the last I see,
May I never be worthy of thee,
May I never hear the buzzing of a bee,
All I know is,
Ain't no way I'm going back to who I used to see.
