Jobs's Notes
Ever have those songs where you just take a phrase and run with it for no real reason? That's this song. Have some fun with it, see what you think. I'm just writing to keep the rust off.
Thoughts on the last stanza? Probably the biggest punch of the song.
Hail Caesar those about to die salute thee.
That's what they told Julius and his nucleus crew
When those gladiator baby boomers left the room grimly
Gritting teeth and spewing fury taking a shield eschewing
A trident didn't want to gum up the works or worse avoid the issue
By trying to die after the show ended in a private room of purple
Drapes and silky satins. Out here the crowd is roaring while their issue
That's their kids, are kissing each bloody relic they can steal from the wreckage
Hail Caesar those about to die salute thee
While you sit here and pollute the city
Their minds and their hearts distracting from the goths at the gates
Not the emo ones, oh no these bros at the door got axes and they here to slay
Seize the day's a cliche so whatduya say we burn this palisade
You know like you do pre-grenade days
And when we done here we can parade
The kings and queens who claim to be the best of these
And leave em weeping seeping tears upon their knees
Hail Caesar those about to die salute thee
And when those vikings call to se 'em romans
Sittin comfy stoned on the cobblestones of the Colosseum
Who gonna be able to lift a finger when the barbarians be a comin
To send blood runnin into the aqueducts anybody brave enough to give a... ?
Dang can't think of the word but those goths are making short work of the gaurds
Who aren't hard except in the brothel yard. There totally smashed like a pot shard
And that's before the invaders sliced em up crushed them to craters
Who's gonna be the saviors of this city, this whole place so full of crap
They had to be the best at plumbing. They ain't done they just coming
To the edge of insanity pushed to the limb by nothing really
Except the grim reality of great partying a penchant for slummin, bumming around
Bumpin downtown with a harp and lyre in their chariot they painted like fire
But now the situation's actually dire who they gonna turn to? Who they gonna trust, Sire?
Up from the sand stands the bloody handed man
They turned into a monster, who's about to conquer
The darker threat at the door he beat the best now for an encore
Of more gore lettin slip dogs of war
He ain't been with whores he been with chores
Ain't been snoring he been enduring
Roars and goring like a boars tusk
done mussed him up and now his time is up.
Now the dust don't settle till there's blood
Soaking int the metal redder than the petal of a rose
Watered in the blood of foes still in the throes
Of suffering he'll be running catching the spear from the next viking that throws
At this gladiator gladly gonna spike it threw him later
Now he's overthrown the thrones
Repelled invaders coming for his bones
Better than his captors, kneecapped those trying to capture
Him and send him to rapture.
So now he stands full stature
Yeah he proved his stats, sure
In the bloody pit of the theater
But now he sits the grimmest reaper
And he looks at the smoke and he whispers first then roars as he runs to the sea
Hail Caesar those about to die salute thee
They sent me to the pit to sit await their say
to decimate in the meantime I decorate
The palace drinkin from a golden chalice
But I refuse amusement I'm here
punching back for every inch of their abusement. Fear
Me cause I'm coming with weapons you gave me
Swinging a blade to cut the chains enslaving me
You all put me in the chamber to laugh watching me explode
But now the doors revolving I backfired cause now you all to slow
To clap me back but I will stab you, hack you, crack you
Cause every time you made me do another rep
That was you pushing yourself to your last breath, last step
I will never repeat your verse but I'll make you eat you words
Pale as I approach, your about to die salute me.
"Hail Caesar those about to die salute thee."
