Endless Cycle

ItsTheory's Notes

The negative effects of hip-hop and rap, mostly on young poor black males, and the worship of the street life and thug culture and how that effects a cycle of drugs, violence, poverty, and mistrust.

VERSE 1:
Rap’s filled with so much weed all the cess and the blunts,
I’ll have no lies, rap’s so dry, I can’t stress it enough,
nowadays it’s about bitches and hoes and riches and dough,
I’m tryna make a difference with the sickest of flows,
Do it moderately, now everyone smokes weed,
3 or 4 times a day, do codeine and are dope fiends,
the whole scene is messed up, I try to be positive,
according to y’all just the sight of me’s odd is it?
Or is it ‘cuz I speak the truth, maybe it’s that,
hip-hop might be slowly dying, crazy is rap,
but I chose to pursue it, I gon’ let it fail,
smart young men are in the streets sent to jail,
misled by MTV and BET, turning to thugs,
they could be great people, it worsens to drugs,
I ain’t preaching now, I ain’t a sent disciple,
but this shit’s gotta stop, it’s an endless cycle

HOOK:
It’s an endless cycle, of drugs and violence,
misogyny and homophobia, guns and crimes and,
y’all giving thugs some guidance, it’s a sharp mentality,
but it’s the goddamn truth, it’s a harsh reality (x2)

VERSE 2:
What happened to the old shit, seems we’ve lost our guidance,
and hip-hop’s positive messages like stop the violence,
I come from humble beginnings, some cred and gracious roots,
tryna address issues to this generation’s youth,
but it’s hard when they listens to fake types of shit,
but materialism’s nice, and really they like the grit,
of it, but it truly leads ‘em down the wrong road,
that’s why I try to be real in most of my songs so,
I can make a difference, but people don’t buy the truth,
‘cuz being honest and moral doesn’t sell to the mindless youth,

that’s why I consider this golden, what I’m spilling right now,
‘cuz I ain’t tryna be the illest, just the realest like how,
like being serious and blunt without a delirious front,
put up to act gangsta, I’ve still experienced cuts,
deep into the flesh, these rap men are idols,
so this shit’s gotta stop ‘cuz it’s an endless cycle

HOOK:

y’all giving thugs some guidance, it’s a sharp mentality,
but it’s the goddamn truth, it’s a harsh reality (x2)

VERSE 3:
These critics ain’t never been poor or experienced hardship,
I wasn’t broke growing up but let a real lyricist start shit,
‘cuz we have the power to change shit, or just make it worse,
we can improve lives or choose to just fake and sure,
I ain’t join the game for money, wasn’t to imitate,
I’m just saying a hard life really doesn’t discriminate,
and kids who feel like outcast just sit with blaring headphones,
rap can be an outlet, but ‘till these parents let go,
the children will deal bullying and deal with the stress,
not making cash, but when people feel it’s the best,
‘cuz you know you touched ‘em and you made a difference,
it might seem contradictory, but the game is twisted,
these kids become bad, they have a chance given to let go,
but they’re pulled in ‘till they’re dead or sitting at death row,
so buy me saying these messages I’ll send the right road,
‘till then let’s get rid of this endless cycle
