Lyrical Analysis of...
Neurodiverse
- We aren’t all the same
- Just because we have different brains doesn’t mean we all have to drive in the same lane
- Some like the rain more than the sun
- It would be boring if all of us were one culture, colour or race
- We’re all from a different place
- It’s a blessing, not a disgrace
- Some wanna follow the herd
- and be pretending their true colour just to blend in with a brother from another mother
- when really they suffer
- It’s too much effort but we still walk on hot coals bare foot And say I’m fine
- When really some with autism like me or even neuro typicals will be hurting inside
- Because they try to hide or can’t get support no matter how much they fought for it
- And that system I was in I was caught in it
- Not diagnosed, not told, not official, I didn’t know what I thought of it
- Like the only lamb who couldn’t relate
- So I went to sit on my own
- Because the herd didn’t know why I was different to their mates
- I was alone
- No one felt like home
- I was on my phone
- Trying to get away
- All the noise
- all the people got me anxious
- It was lethal for my peace of mind
- I was trying to find a quiet place
- where I’d relax
- Back of the class
- until at last
- I got the help that I needed
- so hard to get because
- I was quiet and never pleaded
- I was masked
- Such a task to get the help
- But it got me far from my low
- Now I’m high where my soul glows
- Like a new tomorrow
- Started to understand my mind
- Shared my problems with family
- and to those who I could trust
- to borrow so my sorrow could be halved and solved until they’re left in the dust
- And As time went by it got easier
- Not just with friends but with family
- It pleases ya
- Cause If you wanna be left
- They understand to be leaving ya
- And how they could be treating ya
- Unlike when they seemed to be mean to ya
- It’s a dream to ya and everybody around
- When Before it was Like a weight
- hard to carry that was lost then found
- here but not
- Just be thankful for what you’ve got
- Because life is short
- Want the cold when it’s hot
- But the hot when it’s cold
- Bite the hand that feeds you
- when there’s someone to hold
- But cry when they leave you
- So don’t wish your life away
- Imagine the golden memories you’d miss
- There’s no way of a second chance at this
- You gotta take every shot that you got
- don’t let any opportunities be wasted
- or go to pot
- Because who you are now
- is not the person you will be
- Things change
- They come and go
- Like the tide of a sea
- Each wave has their own direction
- Like the path you take in life
- Just be who you wanna be
- Don’t compare yourself to anyone or me
- Compare yourself to you
- See what you need to improve of yourself
- from the day before
- You’re not the only one with a few flaws
- We all have strengths
- Like a sprinter can’t run long lengths
- But when you’re made to
- Do your best
- Because what doesn’t kill you makes what’s in your chest stronger so you can run longer
- So when I start to ponder or spiral
- I stick to my rule
- Telling myself just do it
- To then surprising me
- Standing tall cause I pushed through it
- Thinking who knew it
- I could do it
- When at first I thought screw it
- To not bother, progress or experience
- All of my positives of feeling this
- But lose it
- Would’ve been the worst choice I’d ever make
- Like giving up music
