Lyrical Analysis of...
Recovery
- I guess it all begins with pain, that’s where everything goes down.
- Right from the start, when everything goes dark, everything inside me gets hard to contain
- I’ll sit there in silence with all my broken parts, and with my demons I attempt to tame
- Love is worse than any drug we could ever take, addiction too strong to refrain or ever numb away
- We try to brush it off and ignore emotion so we can’t be the one to blame
- We become immune to all the hate with every oz of it that flows through our veins
- I know it ain’t easy n you may feel kinda scared but I’m proud of you for getting prepared
- Even tho you may be skeptical on this new road you face
- I’m so glad you came, go your own pace it’s never a race
- Land of the broken and home of the shamed
- This life we have claimed leaves us drained, pained and chained
- Begging for mercy and admitting defeat is the first step towards reaching this mountain so steep
- No more excuses or hiding our face, it’s time we take charge and begin this needed change
- Tear out the page, and get out of this space, it’s time we grow up and get on our way
- Get our priorities straight, new responsibilities and habits we must create
- No more dollar store dreams that leave us torn at the seams
- No more holding it in trying to muffle our screams
- Taking those steps might seem kinda sour, but we must remain strong
- leaving all faith to our higher power
- With veins of a fiend, making it hard to believe that maybe we too can one day be free
- These moments of pain, we must endure first in order to explain
- That the goals we are striving for need to be learned and maintained
- No more running and hiding, we must face all our tragedies
- Preserving our humanity, that we’ve taken from all these calamities
- We can’t ever win until we sin and give in
- Hitting rock bottom is a necessity to finding the strength that’s within
- We must be willing to sacrifice, cut ties and we need to let go
- We need these for focus, so we have more room to grow
- Please grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
- The remedy for courage to change what I can
- And wisdom to know the difference so I may accordingly plan
- I leave with you this prayer in order to finally repair
- The ways of my past no longer left to rot in despair
