Slow Process or No Progress?

  1. You see a black kid at a private Catholic school
  2. Back straight, eyes low, he wears khakis and polo shoes
  3. He looks like the traditional white man's fool
  4. What could he rap about, cuz I know he ain't cool.

  8. He goes to school everyday with the intentions to shine
  9. But every time he's there he feels he's wasting his time
  10. But every time he's there he doesn't know why tryin
  11. Cuz he notices that nobody will smile at him
  12. Nobody is high fiving or even saying hi to him
  13. But thats alright cuz he's going to keep striving and grinding
  14. Little does he know what they think when they walk by him
  15.  
  16. He's off to class now a bigger bounce in his stride
  17. And Still there is now sign of love when he arrives
  18. "But that is alright" he thinks cuz "I'm doin' fine"
  19. But he sits alone in the back of the class trying to hide
  20. And Nobody talks to him and nobody tries
  21. Finally the bell rings and then he finally realizes
  22. He's alone in this uphill climb (like Miley)
  23. Even though she is rich, beautiful, and white
  24. And Miley never worked a day in her life
  25.  
  26. A couple classes later the little kid is still all alone
  27. At the end of the day he just wants to go home
  28. His dad picks him up and asks why is he crying
  29. He says cuz the other kids look at me like their blind
  30. They look at me as if I don't exist, like I'm not their
  31. They won't talk to me, they just stare as if they don't care
  32. About my feelings, and my thoughts, they just stare
  33. I feel like a monkey in a zoo and they called me that twice
  34. I've heard the N word more times today than you've heard in your life.

  36. Later on in his life he graduates from Brown
  37. He gets a great paying job and moves back to his hometown
  38. He sees the people he grew up with, they have kids now
  39. They still don't speak to him, No of them try to say hi
  40. They all curse at him and they spit at him as they walk by
  41. He wonders why he even tries, why is he wasting his time?
