  1. Charles the first was a really bad man
  2. like Henry the 8th without the frying pan
  3. he created loads of taxes
  4. and started loads of wars
  5. He took money from the rich
  6. but didn't give to the poor

  8. Now you ask how was he a really bad man?
  9. One of the reasons was the English Civil war he began.
  10. Another was how he married a little Fench woman
  11. See, no one liked that, so that was really just a bummer
  12. But you see, she was a Francais Catholic
  13. So for marrying her? People thought that Charles was a prick!
  14. She tried to change England's religion
  15. And that was a bad decision
  16. 'Cos then the people revolted
  17. causing a war that was revolting.
  18. And that was the start of the English Civil war.

  20. Charles the first hated Parliament an awful lot
  21. So he shut it down, then later had 5 MP's shot!
  22. This is because he tried out Divine Right of Kings
  23. Which means God gave him power to do anything!
  24. This made him take loads of money and people's land
  25. And their ears would be cut off if they took a stand.

  27. Then a bold religious man Oliver cromwell he was called
  28. When he heard the cruel things that King Charles did, he was appalled!
  29. So he teamed up with Parliament to stop the horrid king
  30. Although he knew what kind of terrible war that he would bring.
  31. He trained an army from Cambridge
  32. Which, to Charles' army, did some serious damage
  33. Cromwell left Charles' army dead,
  34. so now Charles had to be beheaded!
