Lifeguarding

I swam on the the swim team for seven years

always loved the water, never had a single fear

enjoyed the sun and soked up the raise

never worried about the rules

little did I know this was just a phase

 

life goes on in a flash

were all growing up so dam fast

felt like I need to take on a bigger role in society

make a difference , heck yeah I agree

 

time passed on and I got a bit older too

got a little bit less insecure felt more bolder

started becoming more aware of my surrounding

noticed the lifeguards in the stands

wanted their jobs, wanted to land

 

then time passed and gotta more older

high school was landing - just right around the corner

wanted to make some money that summer

didn't wanna sit around doing nothing

 

then I though back to what made me happy

decided that life-guarding was the best option

so I went to the pool and got my application

worked for a good month building up my resume

spent my winter break getting lifeguard certified

finally applied and got the job

that summer was amazing

work in two jobs

Trying to move forward, though it never really stops

 

Now when I go to the pool

i can't relax anymore

start scanning for dangerous activity

get into a different zone

it's like automatic

we were trained so well though

 

life saving skills are drained into are skull

we know how to get everyone's attention

stop the commotion in the pool

gain control of all the patron who are really just fools

I can also be super slick too

check out the hot patrons in the pool

we know what is going on too

 

listen to everyone talking it sounds like a zoo

i know when to make the call

my decision making impeccable great to

 

will I ever lifeguard after high school

sure if especially if my college has a pool

in the summer it could be a way of earning extra cash

so I'm not totally dependent on my parents and I have my own stash

not gonna run out fast callin a dash

 

did I mention my new talents dude

I am certified in First Aid, AED, and CPR too

I notice the smallest changes

have become extremely observant too
